ABOUT YELLOWBiRD
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been obsessed with taking photos. In high school, I had a disposable camera on me during trips, camps, and nights out with friends. In college, my digital camera provided a look back at the football games, parties, spring breaks, and family visits. I was known for being the one who insisted on taking pictures, even before we would “do it for the ‘gram.”
Now that I have a family of my own, my desire to document special moments with my kids has only grown. I seek out opportunities to set up the perfect shot– a pumpkin patch, a sunflower farm, a beautiful beach day. The problem is, when I look back at the photos, I’m rarely in them. As the one behind the camera, it appears that I’m not present in my own memories. Friends and family often joke that it looks like my husband is a single dad because the images are typically just him and the kids.
Sure I ask strangers to take a photo of all of us, but it’s always a bit awkward. Then if the lighting doesn’t look right or our feet are cutoff, I feel bad asking them to retake it. A professional photographer is nice once in a while, but it’s a hassle to find someone and I only get a handful of photos for an expensive price. I don’t even get to own the dozens of shots taken of me and my family.
This is how Yellowbird was born. I wanted an easy and affordable photography service that captures my memories on my own device. Posed, candid, silly, smiling, kids only, kids with parents, all taken by a trained iPhoneographer on my own phone so I own every snap. So simple yet completely revolutionary.
Your memories. Your phone. Our flock. Let your photos take flight.
